ANGELS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

• Active Network Group of Emergency Life Savers (ANGELS), an innovative initiative by a team of service minded individuals of varied backgrounds is a non-profitable charitable community service oriented participatory Pre - hospital care system, which is registered as international foundation under Indian society registration act XXI /1860 [Reg. No S.97/11]
• ANGELS reaches the needy at the mishap site of any kind be it a domestic illness, epidemic, accident or a disaster (manmade or natural) with assured, prompt and immediate pre-hospital emergency medical care, thereby reducing mortality and morbidity. ANGELS also helps to create awareness to prevent various communicable and non-communicable diseases.
• ANGELS blessed and launched by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on 18th of February 2011 has transformed the trauma care and disaster management in the operational districts from a inertial to a pro-active state apart from creating more public awareness about the subject.
• In the process ANGELS has become a synonym for immediate emergency medical care during accidents, illnesses and disasters in the districts of Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad, Palakkad and Malappuram. ANGELS has further moved ahead by evolving strategies to strengthen pre- disaster preparedness and mitigation by way of increasing capacity building, public awareness campaigns, mock disaster management exercises, workshops and conferences to name a few.
• ANGELS took birth in India as a Public Private Participation (PPP) TRUST without actually burdening the government, people or hospitals.
• ANGELS is an International Training Center (ITC) of the American Heart Association (AHA) for conducting BLS, ACLS, PALS, Heart saver and Family and friends CPR courses
• ANGELS is also a Training Service Provider (TSP) for conducting courses of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Kerala.
• Angels is also an Affiliated Training Partner of Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) 

EMERGENCY MEDICINE 

Emergency Medicine is considered to be the ever-growing branch of modern medicine. It is in the infantile stage in developing countries. ANGELS started its pre hospital care addressing emergency care, the most essential wing of medical care with the theme of “community based pre hospital emergency medical services”.  

What is PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE?

• It is an important component of all life support and trauma care systems and definite life-sustaining care of patients need to happen at the site of mishap in the ‘Golden Hour’ and more importantly in the ‘Platinum minutes’ be it a cardiac arrest or any other condition demanding emergency medical care.
• A properly trained pre- hospital care volunteer well versed in BLS techniques able to manage a patient professionally in real time situations is an ANGEL for a person in acute medical distress.
• Providing Basic Life Support (BLS) is not the sole liberty of doctors or nurses. American Heart Association visualizes BLS to be the right of every citizen.
• The ultimate cause of death in any case is cardiac arrest. The immediate care in a cardiac arrest is nothing else but CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION or CPR which should be started at the site within the platinum minutes for maximum results, nevertheless our efforts will be in vain even if we transport to any high-tech hospital.
• Also we come across lots of survivors of accidents seeking care of palliative services. They might be the victims of the ignorance of rescuers providing unscientific modes of transport.
• For this purpose it is very important that at least one person who is well versed in the technique is around whenever and wherever a cardiac arrest or accident happens.
• Training the public is the only means towards this and hence BLS or Basic Life Support Education gains significance.
• If a first responder is a trained one to administer basic emergency care, the victim is in the best possible hands.
• To grow a generation of these best possible hands is the real motive of ANGELS.
• ANGELS conducts the First Response Provider Course (FRPC) or Basic Life Support (BLS) training to fulfill the Motto of ANGELS “At least one lifesaver in a house”.

• This one day training is conducted by ANGELS for lay public and healthcare providers in emergency care. as an ambitious work to realize the motto of ANGELS-“At least one lifesaver in a household”, where a commoner with a will to assist people in emergency can learn serious emergency response skills, that can be used even in his house at the needed hours.
